James McCartney pronto al debutto ufficiale

Beatle Sir Paul McCartney's son James McCartney performs first gig in Liverpool

Being a Beatles baby can't be easy especially when you're stood on stage as your audience gaze around the room hoping to see your famous father.

James McCartney, son of Sir Paul, kicked off his first UK tour in Liverpool, the birthplace of the Beatles, last night.

Looking like a younger, blonder version of his old man with a blue guitar slung round his neck, McCartney casually performed his set for the small but eager crowd.

McCartney opened by dedicating his first song, New York Times, to his Liverpool family and although his dad wasn't back stage supporting him, his well-known rock photographer uncle Mike was.

The 32-year-old also dedicated a song, called My Friend, to George Harrison whose birthday it would have been yesterday and paid homage to Sir Paul with his performance of I Love You, Dad (N.d.Y.: La canzone è stata filmata ed è visibile qui. The 14-strong playlist mingled angry, powerful rock numbers with soft, peaceful ballads. Simple lyrics and memorable melodies meant fragments of previously unheard songs stuck in the mind after just one play...

...McCartney ploughed through his set quickly introducing songs before singing them and moving onto the next. It wasn't until a 50-something rocker yelled: "Go on Jim lad!" that McCartney cracked a smile and seemed suddenly more confident and at ease.

Although the multi-instrumentalist has played music all his life, he shied away from the limelight until last October when he played a handful of secret shows hiding behind the name "Light" in a bid to avoid his dad's shadow.

He may have musical talent like the generation before him but at times he seemed uncomfortable and lacked the showmanship and appeal of his doe-eyed dad.

Despite this, the audience warmed to him and roared their applause as McCartney closed the concert with the words: "You are a heavenly audience. You've been the best audience in the whole wide world."

Fioccano proposte discografiche per James.
A quanto pare lui e David Kahne hanno registrato il disco autonomamente, senza contratto, ed ora il rampollo della casata Mac sarebbe conteso da major come da etichette indipendenti per l'uscita del disco.


Paul McCartney's son James fields record offers

James McCartney, son of ex-Beatle Sir Paul, is playing to acclaim in the UK and has reportedly been swamped with recording offers.
The 32-year-old, whose mother is the late Linda, has just wound up recording for his debut album, which was produced by his collaborator David Kahne.
A source said: 'James is really happy with the album and is enjoying playing live. All he's got to worry about is who he's going to sign with.'

The paper claims James is fielding offers from Universal, EMI, Warner and Sony as well as smaller, independent labels. All are clamouring to sign the rocker, whose diverse influences are cited as those of Nirvana and Fleetwood Mac.

Pare che papà lunedì scorso sia andato a sentirlo suonare in un bar di Brighton accompagnato dalla fidanzata Nancy. Con grande stupore e delizia dei circa 60 presenti ha pure fatto riprese video del concerto canticchiando sulle musiche del figliolo. Magari potreste chiedergli se ve ne fa una copia.

Rock icon Paul McCartney came out to support his son Monday night when James McCartney performed for a crowd of approximately 60 at the Audio Bar in Brighton, England. According to the Sun, Macca danced in the corner and sang along as his 32-year-old son played his set.

Sir Paul, who got his start in a similar fashion when the Beatles first played basement shows in clubs in Hamburg, Germany and at Liverpool's Cavern Club, showed up at the gig with his girlfriend, Nancy Shevell. McCartney reportedly shot parts of his son's show with a video camera, and proudly sang along to the words of 'Glisten,' an original tune penned by James.

The legendary Beatle's presence couldn't help but have some onlookers stunned, especially as James dedicated two tunes, including the self-explanatory 'I Love You Dad' to his famous father.

"I love you Dad, more than you can know," James sang in the song's final lines. Paul happily returned the sentiment. "I love you too," he yelled to his son.

Finalmente James è pronto alla sua prima pubblicazione discografica -Anche se ancora non si parla di un album, che comunque è pronto da qualche mese, ricordiamolo-.
Trattasi di un Ep di cinque canzoni, probabilmente propedeutico il tanto agognato disco.

Ma è pur sempre l'esordio discografico di Macchino -Che orribile soprannome ho coniato-.

E dunque: Il 21 Settembre 2010 vedrà la pubblicazione, per l'etichetta indipendente Maybe Not/Engine Company, dell'Ep Available Light di James McCartney.
Ricordiamo che Light era il suo pseudonimo all'epoca delle primissime esibizioni dal vivo, un anno fa.
Non so se ciò abbia attinenza o meno col titolo. Forse sì.

Per il poco che si possa ascoltare nelle preview le canzoni sembrano "niente male".
La somiglianza fisica al padre nella copertina è impressionante.
